Last night I was super smart... NOT!
1st Error- I accidentally erased all my text messages from one person.
2nd Error- I decided to retrieve these messages
3rd Error- In trying to obtain those messages again i restored my IPhone to my Ipod
I TURNED MY PHONE INTO MY IPOD!
So, now I not only lost those messages from one person I know lost all my contacts, pictures, messages, and calender events. EVERYTHING! Except for my apps which I care for as much as I care if the donkey across the street has to pee.
Imagine this, me at 12.30 A.M. been up since 5:30 A.M. been walking around Temple Square all day trying to turn my phone back into a phone. It was a fail. I was not computer savy at all last night.
I was very frustrated and I walked up stairs to tell my parents what I had done and all they can do is laugh. My mom simply reminds me that she told me when I was first trying to obtain the messages again "Is this really that important?" My little sister who was also in there room just says, "Now you have a new IPod." Ya, i didn't think it was funny. But that's okay they had their fun making little jokes pointed at my intelligence.
I walk back downstairs and I had a text message from an unknown number-because I have no contacts remember- so I ask "Hey who is this." That just made me even more mad. Haha reality had hit that I lost all my contacts and now will be denied the privileged to contact anyone other than my family whose numbers I have memorized.
As I was laying in my bed I thought about how ridiculous I was being. I caused all of this over some text messages. I lost some fun pictures that had real memories connected to them. I got on my hands and knees and prayed. I asked that if everything was to be lost that at least my pictures would not be lost.
This morning I was able to restore my phone so it was no longer an IPod. Then I discovered that I was able to restore everything that was on my phone except for the pictures that I took yesterday. BUT Abby and I bumped all of our pictures to each other that we took yesterday so I will be able to get those back to.
How ridiculous. I was being completely unreasonable. Something with such little importance became the most important thing to me. And I lost some of the most precious things to me, pictures. I got them back, well most of them, but it still just made me think.
The moral of my story is, technology is never reliable and causes you to do stupid things. Think about what you are doing before you do it so you don't end up regretting what you did without thinking. Text messages are not worth it. Write letters.
