The end of conference is like going to bed on Christmas night, you are exhausted and have that weird feeling of "its over". AND then you start counting down till the next time it comes around. CONFERENCE IS IN 6 MONTHS!! I CAN"T WAIT!!

Haha Isn't being able to hear from God's Prophets and Apostles the biggest blessing ever? I know that I had a lot of my questions answered and I truly felt the spirit testify to me that Thomas S. Monson is called of God and that he holds that Priesthood Authority that authorizes him to speak and act in His name. I also know that the three new apostles were called of God.

I really loved all the insight from Conference. One thing I am trying to do to help me to "Stay in the Ship" Is recognize the Spirit more in my day! That is something I have noticed that takes people from the church. The common response I get is "I just don't feel it." How can we feel it? Well it takes practice and effort.

The Spirit speaks to us in a still small voice. Which means we cannot have a million things distracting us. Eliminate the mind set of "I am multi- tasking" Haha the Spirit deserves ALL of your attention. Even when you may have a crazy day I promise you that God's hand was in your day you just have to look for it.

LOOK FOR IT! haha I had to take my own advice. So I made a goal to recognize God's hand in every day!
MIRACLES! It is everywhere!!

As we were walking on campus we had a girl stop us and she was like HEY where is the church at. We were like in shock because no one comes up to us haha. Turns out she is a member and hasn't been to church in a long time and wants to come. As we looked at this experience the timing was PERFECT! Everything lined up so that we could be in the same spot she was at the same time.

Talking about God's perfect timing some times things happen that don't make sense to us at this moment. For example we were teaching this guy who was so Solid!! He was asking the best questions. He is Chinese and they don't grow up learning about God. Most the time when we bring up Jesus Christ with them , they laugh because that is not something that is talked about among their people. So as we were teaching him he was taking it all in. He said that he realized that to enter God's kingdom you have to be humble so then he asks, "How can I be more humble?" WHAT?? Who is this guy?

the last lesson we had with him he informed us that he can no longer meet because his parents would dis own him. He was so hurt. I just wanted to cry for him. He didn't understand how his own parents could do that to their own son. My heart was breaking. He was embarrassed and very hurt. He thanked us for teaching him about God and how to pray. He said that he was going to continue reading the Book of Mormon and hopefully one day his parents hearts would be softened.

This lesson was one of the saddest lessons I have been apart of. I have always grown up with  believing in God and Jesus Christ. These people are spiritually starving and they want this knowledge. They love how it makes them feel and they want more. This is something I really take for granted. It is something that I have been given freely.

God's timing is interesting. Sometimes seeds just need planted so that they may grow and flourish later. You never know the end of the story in the beginning. You have to keep reading. I can't wait to see how this story unfolds. I know it will include lots of miracles.

I am loving serving on Campus! People are so kind! We went out in the weird rain/humid/ cold stuff haha it was a weird weather you only experience in Michigan! The main thing is that it was cold. People still stopped and talked to us for a good 10-15 minutes! We just put our umbrella over them and we had good conversations. I was impressed!

It is really like serving a foreign mission without having to learn a language haha. I have talked to people from Brazil, China, Japan, France, Mexico, and of course the U.S. haha it is really interesting to learn more about different beliefs in different countries. I know that God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever! He is our loving Heavenly Father and he wants all his Children to hear the gospel!

I hope you all have a fabulous week and know that I love you and appreciate all you do for me!!

SAIL ON!

I have gained a whole new knowledge of what it means to SHINE and to SHARE YOUR LIGHT! This is not something you just do when you feel like it. It is constant. A lot of the time we don't even realize we are doing it. Sharing your light is simple as being an example and being the best you can be. God recognizes the simple things and he appreciates all you do. I don't think we give ourselves enough credit for what we do.

Sometimes our best it up here

sometimes our best is down here

God appreciates both because we are giving our best. We know and God knows so it does not matter what anyone else says!!

This has been a really short week haha I don't have much to say! We are having P-day today because Elder Wilford Andersen is coming to speak to us on Monday!! YAY! And I have been asked to pray at the conference! Haha I am nervous I mean praying in front of a General Authority is a little intimidating! Haha as long as I do my best i am good right? haha time for me to take my own advice! ;) haha I am really excited he gave my favorite talk in General Conference! "The Music of the Gospel" It was fantastic! I can't wait!

Transfer Calls are Sept 18th pray that I stay in Three Rivers! Haha I am not ready to leave! I know that whatever happens that it is inspired by God and he knows best!

I hope you all are enjoying school again! It is a fun time! I can't wait till all the leaves start turning here! It is going to be GORGEOUS!!

I love you all and appreciate all your support!

Have a fabulous week!(:

Tune Your Heart

Drum roll please...... I have hit my 5 month mark!! I am truly amazed at how much I have changed and how much I have learned. The gospel is true and when you fully immerse yourself into it God shapes you into who he knows you can become.

Some miracles of the week.

On Wednesdays we are in Sturgis which is about 35 minutes from Three Rivers and we were praying so hard to be effective missionaries while we were there. We were led to a members home and she was alone, her kids had been gone about a week. She was not expecting us so we caught her off guard when we showed up. We shared a message with her and then left. On Sunday she came up and thanked us for stopping by. She said she didn't realize how sad she was and that we really helped her. It was incredible. God knows His children and he knows what their needs are.

JOSEPH CAME TO CHURCH!! We have been trying to get him to come to church for a very long time and it finally happened. It was really funny. People saw him and they were like "Hey who's investigator is that? Is it the Elders or the Sisters?" I took a look at him and I was like I have no clue who that is. I looked again and I was like hold up that is Joseph!!  You see he always wears a bandanna and so I have never seen his head. He looks a lot different. He even wore a white shirt and tie. I was so impressed. Prayers have been answered. He loved church. I could tell he felt the spirit. We showed him the font and he made the comment that it had a special feeling about it. He also said that we have a lot to talk about on Tuesday when we meet. I am so excited for him. MIRACLE! PURE MIRACLE!

I got the opportunity to sing in church with Nicolle Ritchie! I just love her! and Shayna Petersen accompanied us! It was so fun! I only got to practice 3 times so that was intimidating. BUT the spirit filled in! I could feel the spirit so strong while we were singing! I love being able to share my talents. I know that I was given them for a reason so I love it when I have opportunities to share. People loved it too. We got lots of compliments and someone even wants to record us.

Brother Garners viewing was yesterday and the funeral was this morning. It was sad but really cool to see how many lives he truly touched. He was an incredible individual! I have really been thinking about how short life is. When I was little my Sister Kaysha used to tell me some wise words that I have never forgotten. "Life is to short to be mad." (I used to have quite the temper) I may not have applied them the best in my life at that time but I feel like the words are sinking in. We have got to be the best we can in this life and we are meant to have joy so Life is too short to be anything but happy!

Also, I have been thinking about how people tend to treat life like a contest. It is not. This is a team sport and we are all here to work together. There is not a occupancy limit it Heaven. So why not help everyone as much as we can so we can all get there?

Well, thanks for tuning into another week with Sister Young(: I am still loving my mission and learning so much! I appreciate all your prayers and support! I hope you are all having a fabulous week! I love you all!!

"Hold Fast to what you already know and stand strong until additional knowledge comes."
-Elder Holland

I love this quote from Elder Holland so much. I read it this morning in my personal studies and it brought me so much comfort. We experience so many trials in life where we think WHY? WHY ME? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? Well we know that God has a plan for us and that everything is going to be okay as long as we "hold fast" to that knowledge. He will never leave us a lone. We may leave Him but he is constant and will ALWAYS be there for us.

This morning I got some shocking news that was not expected at all.

Brother Garner, my ward mission leader, passes away last night. I was in shock and was not expecting that at all.

This is where the quote comes in. I know that God has a plan for each of us individually. I do not perfectly know the plan He has but I do know that there is a plan. This life is such a small portion of Eternity. Yes it is sad, but we can rejoice because this is not the end.

"The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take the love out of life."

Aren't we so blessed to have so many loved ones? So many friends and family who care about us dearly. In this life we will experience so much sorrow and grief but because we know what that is like it makes the happy times so much better and we can experience so much joy.

I am so grateful for this knowledge of the gospel. It brings me so much peace and happiness. This is the one and only true church and I gain a greater testimony of that every single day. I am so grateful for the time I have to serve as a missionary. God knew that is what I needed far before I knew that is what I needed. "I will follow God's plan for me. Holding fast to His words and His love. I will work and i will pray I will always walk in his way. And I will be happy on earth and in my home above."
(Those may not be the exact words but I have faith that they are close;)

I have an a really good week. I love the people in Three Rivers. It is so fun to walk down the street and have people say Hi and wave and I am like "This is my town!" Haha but I am famous in Three Rivers! A while ago Sister Roberts and I took a survey about downtown Three Rivers and they took a picture of us doing it. Well we are now on posters all over downtown! I AM FAMOUS!! I knew this day would come;) haha It is pretty great. It isn't to serious yet but people are letting us into their homes more so there is good coming from it;) Ok it has no relation.

BUT... people are letting us in more. We got 7 new investigators this last week.

Keisha and Jerrod- They first thought that Mormon's did not believe that black people have souls. I was like no no that is Red heads... haha I love teasing Sister Edwards for being a redhead. She makes jokes about it to so all is well. SO after we got that false doctrine fixed we found out that Sister Edwards knew her brother from the first area she served in. In fact, Jerrod used to go play basketball with the Elders in St. Joseph. They were really interested and it was cool to see that we are able to harvest seeds that other missionaries have planted. It doesn't matter how many baptisms we get, none of our work is a waste.

So as a missionary we encounter so many different people. We try to help all. We set up a lesson with this guy who was really wanting to change. So the day comes and we are waiting for him but he was not able to meet. He went to jail the night before unfortunately. SATAN!!! Ahhh... Why does he have to work so hard on people when we are trying to help them? Oh yeah because he wants to make every one miserable! Haha that is ok because Satan doesn't win in the end! SPOILER ALERT!

Be Quick to Forgive
Why? Because it brings freedom.

Once upon a time there were some Sister Missionaries (We aren't perfect) who got in a little argument because we cannot read each others minds. As Much as they wished they could... they could not! So this argument caused tension and that is not okay in a companionship because then there is no room for the spirit. One Sister Ended up apologizing and the other was left with the choice to forgive or to hold a grudge.

Well... I forgave her and it was the coolest experience. I am one to hold a grudge. It is something I have been working on for the longest time. No matter how hard I would try to forgive someone what ever they did still ate me alive. This time it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and I was truly able to forgive.

Being able to forgive is a charitable act and it is hard but as we strive to develop charity we can forgive. My nature has been changed time and time again. If we will let the Lord help us change and become better we WILL change and become better!

This gospel works miracles I can promise you that!

I hope you all have a fabulous week!! FALL IS COMING!! YAY sweater weather is among us!!!

I love you all! The gospel is true!

Mosiah 4:9

A picture is worth a million words! I love this picture so much! John is the one in the back and he got baptized on Saturday August 15th! We were so excited that his mom was able to come and that Alexza was able to baptize him! Words cannot even explain how special of an experience that was to have our recent convert introduce his best friend to us and then a month later baptize him! The spirit was so strong.

One thing that I really love about this story is that Alexza had the courage to share the gospel and he was an example to John. He was never pushy he just cared enough about him to share something very precious to him with him. We never know how big of an impact we may have! Miracles are waiting to happen we just have to help them along and have faith that they will come!  I have to strongest testimony of that!

Another cool experience of the week!

Last night at about 10:05 we got a phone call from the Assistants to the President and we panicked! One does not simply just get a phone call from the AP's! As we talked to them all they did was praise us! They got our numbers from this last week and they were impressed! Sister Edwards and I work really well together! We had really good numbers and they told us that they were grateful for all our hard work and they knew that we were being diligent and obedient! It was an incredible compliment! They were like "Sisters how do you do it?" haha it was funny! I really love being a missionary!!

Sister Edwards and I adopted a cat for a while. haha we named it Po! It was adorable!

This week in the Book of Mormon I learned how important it is to not murmur! Remember when Nephi broke his bow and Lamen and Lemuel's had no spring and everyone was complaining and freaking out because they were like ahhh we are going to starve! Nephi was like calm down God will not let us starve and he went and made a bow and asked God where he could find food. I love this because if we just sit and complain we will not get anything done! WE MUST ACT!! Don't dwell in self pity try to better your situation! That really hit me! God will never leave us we are the ones to leave him. He is always there ready to help us at anytime!

As we fully engage ourselves into the Lords work we will experience so much joy! I cannot even explain how much happiness I have experienced in these 4.5 months! This is exactly where I am suppose to be. God has a plan for each and every one of us and he will show us where we are suppose to go if we will let him. I have learned that when we ask for counsel we must act on it. If we don't what is the point in asking??

I hope you are all enjoying these last few weeks of summer! Missionary Roasting season is coming to an end and soon fall will be here! I promise you I will have tons of pictures Fall is going to be gorgeous here with all the trees!

I love you all and appreciate all your support! Have a fabulous week!(:

So, I am going to put my Grandma and Grandpa on the spot right now because after I got this picture I was obsessing over it! I have been thinking about it all week! (forgive me for not asking for permission- haha)

In January my Grandpa received the Priesthood and then in January him and my Grandma were sealed in the Temple for Time and all Eternity! That is a very powerful statement that has a lot of meaning. We are experiencing but a small portion of what our life includes. (My thoughts are kinda scattered right now so bear with me.)

The Gospel has eternal significance, it is not just for now it is for always! As we apply the principles the gospel teaches we can experience JOY! As I look at this picture of my grandparents I see joy written all over them! I can't help but smile when I see this picture! The goal is to return to God and live with Him. HOW CAN WE DO THIS? By making and KEEPING the covenants we make in the Temple. We should always keep our sights on the temple. That is where we can experience this joy. The world is trying to tell us other wise but remember that is Satan and he wants all men to be miserable like unto himself. So my advice is to be in the world but not be of the world and always live worthily to enter into the temple.

Haha I am missing the temple if you cannot tell!

My week has been super busy! We had a Half Mission P-Day which is where half of our mission got together and played games all day! it was so much fun!! I hung out with Sister Guest all day! she is awesome. We bonded haha I love that! You can just go up to a missionary and Insta friends! it is fantastic. It was fun to just relax and have fun! we played a lot of water games and I am tan! haha it is great!

I was in Kalamazoo for the day on Thursday for Trade offs and I learned so much from Sister Cornia. She is my Sister Training Leader and a fabulous missionary! We walked A TON!! Haha I ended up with a hole in my foot! haha It was great!

So I decided to share with you all some of my favorite responses from the door step as of why people cannot meet with us or cannot learn more about Jesus Christ. Starting with my favorite:
1-My Dogs are Barking
2-I am taking care of my palnts.
3-My Kids aren't home
4-I'm going out of town and I don't know when I am coming back.
5-I am showering
6-I travel a lot
7- I have kids
8- I can't open my door, my dog's a runner
9- My door won't open
10- I have an opinion but I am not going to participate
11- My daughter is sick
12-I have to keep my heart rate up
and of course you have all the classics
-I am really busy
-I am comforatble
-I have Jesus in my home
-I have a church
-I have been saved
and then there are those who look at us and just say
NO NO NO
and then close the door! hahaha it is great!

Well I Love you all and hope you have a fabulous week!

Knock, Knock, Knockin!

I set a goal so be able to do a headstand a while ago and so I had to show off a little bit! I hit 4 months woot woot! I have learned so much in such a short time! I can feel the spirit getting stronger and stronger! I know without a doubt that this is the true church and I love it with all my heart!

We have been door knocking a lot lately and I get bored sometimes! It is hot and you can only be told no so many times in a row before I start to lose my mind! Haha so I do things to mix it up once in a while!

We went up to a storm door and the bottom part that is glass was broken out so I decided to climb through it. I knock on the door and then as the lady opens the door Sister Edwards is in the process of following me through the door and the lady was in shock she was like "no no" haha Sister Edwards looked like she was just caught committing a crime! It was priceless!!  I am guessing it was one of those you had to be there moments but still it was great!

Poor Sister Edwards always ends up the victim! When I see a dog I ALWAYS mentally measure the chain to see what my next move should be! So I get up on this porch and SURPRISE a dog. The chain is not fully visible and the dog was angry so I got off that porch as fast as I could, The only issue was my dear companion was in my way so in my panicked state I pushed her into the dog and continued to run to safety! Haha It was really funny!
(Sister Edwards was not harmed don't worry)

And my last door knocking story of the week! I saved the worst for last!!
Drum roll please.....
Sister Edwards was knocking on a door that was like 2 inches open and someone yells "Come in" People do that! usually they are just sitting on the couch and are to lazy to come to the door! Well as we open the door we do not see anyone! Then....then.... a Big Black NAKED man all dressed up in his birthday suit comes around the corner!!! AHHHH We left the door fully open and ran until we got to the front of the apartment complex! We ended our door knocking in that area and we left! Somethings you just cannot unsee!!!
He was not expecting us! the door was not open for us and he was not wanting us to come in! By far my most AWKWARD door knocking experience! I don't think anything can top that! And that is not a challenge!!

On a more spiritual note:
On Thursday the Thompson's gave us a TON of food! More than 2 Sister Missionaries can eat! So while we were door knocking we came across a couple who is expecting and they weren't interested but when we asked if there was anything we could do for them they asked us if we could help them with food! My mind went back to all the food that was given to us and once again like the last time the Thompson's gave us a lot of food the thought came to my mind "This food is not for you!" I was humbled in that moment! I never have wondered when the next time I am going to eat. And this woman  was struggling because she is needing to eat 3-4 times a day now! That broke my heart! That is how much we should be eating anyway! After I get done here we will be going to deliver them our extra food that we were blessed with!

Well that is about how my week has been! I am learning so much and I LOVE this area! I hope I can stay one more transfer! I will find out on August 7th

I love you all and love all your letters and emails! I appreciate all you do for me and all the prayers! I hope you have a fabulous week!!

Teaching with members...
Sister Edwards got sick do I took her to the Thompson's to heal and Jenika was so wonderful to come out and teach with me all day! She was a trooper! It was a hot day and she stayed strong. She is deciding if she wants to go on a mission or not so I took it upon myself to use that day to convince her that missions are the BEST things ever...then ALL of our lessons fell through and she had to door knock with me! Lets just say I don't think I quite convinced her unfortunately!

Experience Missionary Roasting Weather...
90-100 Degrees+ Humidity= Missionary Roasting Weather! It is as gruesome as it sounds! Imagine this: Someone knocks at your door and when you open it you find 2 girls with Sweat Powers, faces red, gasping for air...I wouldn't want to listen to them either! Plus the longer they talk to more hot air gets into their nice cool, air conditioned houses and we but get a slight breeze of what it feels like as they shut the doors in our faces! Hahaha ok that was really dramatic! BUT the heat has taught me that the Lords work MUST go on no matter what! AND I can do hard things! When we are diligent miracles come!

Sister Edwards: "It is so humid I could drink the air."

Funny...
I am funny! I still think so anyways. We were door knocking and an Indian opens the door. Not like a Native American but an Indian from India. There was a language barrier and so we were struggling to communicate. I was under the impression that we wanted to talk about God being very ignorant about the Muslim Religion. Sister Edwards was very aware that he was okay with his idea of believing in one God being all Gods. A theory I do not quite understand. So with my little understanding I ask this man if we can come in and share a message with him. I was curious about their way of life. He being very polite lets us in and as we are walking in Sister Edwards gives me this look of WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! Haha it was really funny! So we go sit down and I find out that the man really didn't understand anything we were saying! haha so we hand him a pamphlet and he says do you have one in Indi? We were fresh out... haha so we asked if we could talk about it and if it would be ok if we turned the TV off! He told us that the Tv was God. God was on the Tv. When I looked I saw no God on the Tv. Haha So we are struggling to communicate and this very nice lady brings us some juice and so we were like crap now we have to finish it before we leave. I end up asking if anyone can speak English and the teenage girl sitting next to us was like I can! I was like i bet you have been sitting here laughing at us the whole time! We got her information. Seeing that our juice was still full we were still stuck and they continued watching their tv god as if we weren't even there! Well we all know what happens when I get uncomfortable...I laugh. SO to cover my laughter I turn to my juice...I immediately regretted me decision. I choked on my juice and I am STILL laughing! SO I am so rudely interrupting their tv god which makes me even more awkward. It was a vicious cycle until I got all that dang juice down and we could finely excuse ourselves from their presence. haha Once we got outside I lost it! haha Sister Edwards was like WHY did you do that! Haha I REGRET NOTHING! It was so funny! They even had their cool Indian Clothes on except for the teenage girl! They are super nice! I enjoyed myself! I think I will go back! teach them that there is only 1 God!

Competing with the JW's...
Jehovah's Witnesses. We were walking to a lesson and we look down the sidewalk and see 5 Jehovah's Witnesses out door knocking! Remember in Anchor man when all the Weather Stations meet in the ally? No I am just kidding it was nothing like that! Haha they were really nice! A little awkward. They were like well how do you get people to listen to you? Sister Edwards was like well we tell them that we share a message about Jesus Christ and how he restored his church through a modern day prophet. They were speechless. It is really what we do. We share restored truths with the people we talk to. We talked to one lady for a little while. She seemed slightly interested. She had a lot of questions but I am not quite sure what her intent was.

A Doctor...
I am sure you all know Alexza very well by now. Well he got sick and he texted us and was like Sister Young I am really sick do you have some oils that will help. OF COURSE I DO! So I get all my supplies and take it to the park. Haha well I gave him some Oregano and Olive Leaf! I tried to warn him it was strong...he smelled it and was like that ain't bad. After the first drop fell in his mouth I thought I had killed him! He was making the most disturbing faces. He started spitting and gagging I was like okay okay I take this and it is not that bad! he was being fairly dramatic! I gave it to Sister Roberts once and she didn't even do that! He thought he was going to throw up. I personally thought it was kind of entertaining. I know I am mean. BUT after about 10 minutes he said he felt a lot better! I can heal the sick. Just Kidding but There is an oil for everything!

Witnessing Miracles...
Alexza was confirmed a member on Sunday and I was talking to Sister Gunlach after Church about it. She asked how Alexza got in contact with Ryan Davis (Recent Convert who baptized Alexza)  I told her that Sister Roberts and I had done all we could as missionaries to help Alexza and we were praying for help. Then Ryan Davis texted Alexza and invited him to a Singles branch activity! Then became best friends! Alexza got that social conversion that he needed. She started crying! Her son gave Ryan his first book of Mormon 10 years before he had joined, He had planted that first seed. Because of that he was able to help Alexza and now Alexza is able to help John who wants to get baptized on August 16th! Alma 26:31 is very fitting for that! We will see the fruit of our labors in God's timing! Everything we do has an impact!

Monday, July 13, 2015

The day arrived! Alexza decided to be baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I am so proud of him and the decision he made! The spirit was so strong at his baptism. His friend who we just started teaching said "The spirit was thick in there." It truly was! One of the strongest I have EVER felt the spirit! He asked me to talk about the Holy Ghost and I wasn't even able to use the talk I wrote. The Holy Ghost was like "no no I got this!" I was shaking but it was not from nerves it was like the Holy Ghost was so strong it was shaking my very soul so strong that my whole body was shaking. I was so calm and near tears. I was just wanting to bask in the spirit. I felt so blessed to be able to take part in his baptism. It was FILLED! The relief society room was Packed and people were standing in the hall! I just don't even have good enough words to explain what happened!

Indra came to the baptism! I was so excited when I saw her! I ran(ok I walked because I was in a dress and in the church) over to her and she was like "There's my baby" I love Indra I haven't seen her in a while so it was really nice to be able to talk to her! She said that she loved the baptism and that she has never experienced anything like it before!

Alexza's baptism was PRIME for our investigators! We had 5 of them there and it was perfect because now they know what the Holy Ghost is and what it feels like! It is so hard to explain what the Holy Ghost is and I was so grateful that the Holy Ghost just took care of that for me!

John, Alexza's friend, has decided that he wants to get baptized! That was super exciting!

I really think it is so important to put ourselves in situations where we can feel the spirit often. It is something that is important for our testimony and our spirit craves that feeling! It is addictive! I just want it more and more! Haha I am a spirit junky! I LOVE it!!

Some highlights of my week
Sister Edwards and I were out door knocking and we encountered a very drunk individual! He was asking us questions and we started talking about Jesus Christ.
Drunk Man: Can Jesus Christ do my dishes?
Sister Edwards: He can forgive your sins!
Drunk Man: Oh...that's it?

Drunk Man: Is Jesus Christ still alive?
Me: No he is not.
Drunk Man: Will he come back?
Me: Yes, he will come back...

Haha door knocking brings all sorts of adventures!

We picked up a new investigator and he has an obsession with my feet...
Francisco: Show me your feet
Me; I would rather not
Francisco: Take off your shoes
Me: I am really good thanks for asking though
Francisco: I want to see your toes

WHY???? I do not understand some people! haha the second lesson he did the same thing! I was like I am not understanding his obsession!

Drum roll everybody....
I FINISHED WRITING MY SONG!!! I am so excited!! It took a while but I finally got it done and will hopefully get it recorded sometime in the new future when I find some free time that does not exist on a mission... haha but hopefully soon! I am so excited to share it with everyone because singing is my favorite way to share my testimony and since I wrote the song it is purely my testimony and I am just so pumped about it!! Doing things on a mission is so much easier than it is in real life! THANK YOU SUPER MISSION SPIRIT!

Once upon a time I became very brave and I prayed for something that no person should pray for without buckling up and preparing to embrace all that is placed in their path.

I prayed for patience...

Yup I did that! Why? Well I thought it would magically make me more patient.

WRONG!

It put me in several situations that would cause me to be patient or be reprimanded for my inappropriate actions... I am becoming a patient person!!! Haha it has been an interesting road but I have learned that patience its truly a virtue and is needed in life! Learn it early on is my advice!

I am so grateful for this time that I have to be a missionary! It has truly changed me and I am loving all that I am learning and the relationship that I am building with my Father in Heaven! He  has helped me so much! It is interesting that I gave up my life to serve God but He is still giving me far more than I am giving Him! I love this Gospel and it is such a blessing to be apart of it!

Read your scriptures
fast and pray
love the Lord
and sing all day!

LOVE YOU  ALL!!

Here are the pictures that didn't load

Dance in the Rain

Right before Sister Roberts and I came to email we decided to go for a run around the Three Rivers High School track! It was nice and then all the sudden it was POURING rain! There was nothing gradual about it. There was no rain then RAIN! Haha I couldn't help but laugh! I made it half way around the track and I was SOAKED! We really enjoyed it! We just kept running and it was really a good time! We looked like we had just taken showers! We were both laughing pretty hard by the end!
This is a good lesson! Sometimes in life we are just running along and life is good and then BAM Poruing Trials!
At this point you have 2 options-
1.Laugh and keep going! Endure to the End
2. Stop. Get upset. Complain. Pretend like the world has ended!

I would highly recommend going with the first one!! It makes life a lot more fun!

So I got to hold a ferret this week! A ferret is just a really long mouse in my opinion! The only reason I held it was to get a picture... haha it was gross and I almost dropped it because those things don't have a back bone or something! The just fall like a limp noodle!! But hey I conquered my fears and held the thing! haha

Don't you hate it when a Blind person almost sits on you??? I do! We were having scripture study class on Saturday and one of our investigators came in a little late and then a little later his friend comes in and has his back to me! He is talking really loud and pretty much preaching to the group it was entertaining and Sister Roberts asked him if he would like to sit down and join us? He was like Yeah Yeah and I am right behind him and he grabs my leg and goes to sit down! Of course I jump up and got out of there before this big guy sits on me!!! He panics too! haha he was like "Man GEA I almost sat on you! I didn't see you there!" Then he laughs...because he is blind and he can't see anything! He was crackin jokes left and rightI don't know why he thinks my name is Gea but that is the least of my problems! I am just glad he didn't sit on me!
FASTING WORKS!
This last fast Sunday our Zone did a fast to get new ELECT investigators! Holy Miracles! This is a story about a Dolphin Squad!

Once upon a time Sister Roberts and I had all of our lessons cancel on us and we were going out finding! We had planned places to door knock but for some reason we didn't end up walking in that direction! We ended up walking to Douglas Street and we found Ryan who was semi interested and then he get to house 410...
We knock
A young girl answers and turns around and says
"Hey Family want to see who is at the door?"

At this point we are expecting a mom, dad, siblings.
NOPE
many young women come to the door!
We started talking to them and I asked them if we could tell them a story about a boy around their age!
They agree and 7 young women flood out of this house and sit on the steps! They were so in tune! They were 12-18 years old and have a good relationship with God! They said if they ever have a question they just ask God. It was incredible! They loved what we told them and they agreed to pray about it! We will be seeing them again on Wednesday!(:  I was going to write them in my planner and I looked at them and I was like what should I call you? They were like...
THE DOLPHIN SQUAD! Doesn't that sound like something that should be on the front page of the New Era? I think so!!(:

PLEASE PRAY THAT THERE PARENTS WILL ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUE TO LEARN!
I know that this gospel will bless their lives and they are so ready to learn! They were like sponges and soaking it all up!!

I got to eat the Best Ice Cream in town! It was so good! My first time eating icce cream with Cashews... It was heavenly! Cookie Dough Ice Cream and Chocolate Cashew Ice Cream=Happy Sister Young!! It was the perfect way to end a long week!! I have been so obsessed with cashews! Haha I have cashew milk, cashew butter, and I just got cashew ice cream!! Cashews were heaven sent I swear!!

It has been a really good week! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week and enjoying the summer!!
Don't forget to go the Moto Rodeo on July 11th I can't be there so make sure you all are there! It will be amazing! It is so wonderful to be able to help out God's children!!

This week I have taught a lot of reflecting lessons therefore I have been doing probably more reflecting than the people I have been teaching. The whole saying the teacher learns more than the person being taught I know to be true!

In Gospel Principles it was Sister Roberts and I's turn to give the lesson and it was on repentance. I found a quote by Tad R. Callister that I LOVE!

"...repentance is a glorious positive; it is but another name for the process that perfects us."

Isn't that so good? I think so! He also gives a FABULOUS analogy that I share with almost everyone in the world... well Michigan at least.;)
“Sometimes we forget that repentance is not only the road to forgiveness; it is also the road to perfection,” Brother Callister said. “Suppose I invited one of you who live out of state to drive to our home in Bountiful, but I asked you to drive there in neutral.”
The frustrated response might be, “But I can’t get there unless I put my car in gear.”
“So it is with our spiritual progress,” he said. “We can’t get to our desired destination in neutral—we must put our spirit into gear, and that is called repentance.”
Genius!! We really cannot sit in neutral and get frustrated because we are not going anywhere or progressing! The longer we sit in neutral and step on the gas expecting to get somewhere the harder it is going to be to go somewhere when we finally decide to get in gear! It is so important to constantly be engaged and progressing! Our goal is to return to Heavenly Father and we cannot get there sitting in neutral!
That is my little spiritual thought for the week! I just want you all to know that I have had an incredible week and I can definitely see the Lords hand in every single one of my days!
I got to go on Splits this week and I learned so so much! Sister Roberts and I split up and we both went out with members to cover all of our investigators! I was blessed to go out with Jessica! I learned so much from her! Haha We had a full day planned and ALL of our lessons cancelled! ALL OF THEM! So what do we do when that happens? We go out finding. Jessica and I had a lot of time to talk and I know I have made an eternal friend! I can't complain about anything on that day!
OH Yeah we made them both little name tags too! It was fun(:
Something that I love about being a missionary is watching people change! It is so rewarding. We have been teaching Joseph and Cindy for about 2 months now and when we first met them they didn't have to much drive in life. They sat on their porch day after day. There porch was very cluttered and it was getting worse. After a couple of weeks they started talking about cleaning things up and making some changes in their lives. They wanted to make more time to read the scriptures and do things to strengthen their relationship with God.
This last week when we went to visit them their porch was SPOTLESS!! It looked so nice and their countenances were different. It was incredible! I am not saying they started changing because of us. I think it had something to do with the spirit though. Cleanliness is next to Godliness and I know that when I keep my things clean I am able to feel the spirit more, I feel better, and I can think more clearly.

Last P-Day I climbed a tree!! Yes in my skirt. That was cake...we won't talk about how I got down! Hahaha

Something I have learned in that God has called me on a mission. Sister Klurisa Young! That includes every part of me. He has called my personality, my strengths, my weaknesses, my weirnesses, EVERYTHING! My mission is meant to strengthen me and help me to realize who I am and who I want to be. I would be lying if I were to say I am still the person I was 2 months ago.I have changed quite a bit BUT  I am still me I am just me in gear! I still have my personality, my weird desires, my love of cookie dough and chips, I still get weird when I stay up late. Although my definition of late has changed. haha
I am loving who I am becoming. It is so important that we all learn to love ourselves. We cannot help others if we don't! God does not make mistakes and he looks at each and everyone of us as precious children who he loves. God does not look at us in worldy ways!
Samuel 16:7 "THE LORD LOOKETH ON THE HEART"
Always remember that! We need to be gentle with ourselves. When we look in the mirror be gentle and kind and remember that God does not make mistakes. We are our worst critics.  I believe that there is always room for improvement but when you look at yourself do not destroy yourself.
CHALLENGE: Everytime you look in the mirror this week name 5 things that you like about yourself, talents you have, what God has blessed you with, or something positive about yourself that makes you YOU!
I think that if we change how we view ourselves it will change how others view us as well! YOU ARE LOVED!!
I seriously LOVE being a missionary! I have learned so much in such a short time and I am grateful for everyday that I have out here!
I hope you all have a fabulous week!
I love you all!!

Not a Wimp

Last night we had spirit time with the Drumm family and before we left we asked if there was anything we could do to help them out and Brother Drumm ,jokingingly, said yeah you can stack that wood. He had a lot of wood in his front yard! Haha then he says "No it is to heavy for you Sisters."

I was like HOLD UP I am strong! Haha so to prove that we were strong enough Sister Roberts and I showed up this morning to stack his wood! Haha it was pretty heavy I am not going to lie! But I was not about to be weak! Haha it was some solid wood and it was not cut small! Haha BUT we got it all stacked!

You know what he said? He said "Wow Sisters I am impressed I will never underestimate Sister's Strength again."

Haha I don't know what I have gotten myself into! I have a feeling they will not be calling the Elders for manual labor anymore!

We were doing service for a sister a while ago and the Elders had done service for her a week or two before and she goes, "Are the Elders from the City?" haha and we were like why do you ask? And she goes oh no reason! Hahaha

I have made a strong name for myself! I am no wimp! hahaha
